Róisín Whelan Dance / R.W.D creates highly physical and technically demanding work with strong narratives that is accessible to all regardless of their age, gender, or socio-economic background.
Róisín Whelan is a dance artist based in Carlow in the South East of Ireland. She is creating highly physical and technically demanding work with strong narratives that is accessible to all regardless of their age, gender, or socio-economic background. Róisín is the recipient of the inaugural Propel Award, a three year-long artist development and mentorship programme funded by the Strollers Network, Ireland’s largest consortium of Arts Centres and a member of the Northern Ireland Opera Open Studio as an Emerging Choreographer for the 21/22 season.
Since I came on board with Róisín Whelan Dance / R.W.D. I have worked with the company to produce The Galaxy of Occupations Autumn Tour 2022, commissioned by Tipperary Dance and a Production Commission from Dublin City Council Creative Hubs with additional funding from The Strollers Network; Man Down 2022 (premiere) at VISUAL Carlow and Backstage Theatre, Longford, funded by the Arts Council; Man Down (Film) 2021, funded by Shawbrook Dance Performance Residency, Bank of Ireland Begin Together Award, in association with Business to Arts.
R.W.D. are currently in development for two new productions for 2023 and 2024.
