Michelle Cahill curated the Maynooth Dance & Movement Summer School 2014, in association with Kildare Arts Office and The Laban Guild.
In 2014, I was invited to curate the biennial Kildare Dance & Movement Summer School at NUI Maynooth. Run every two years by Kildare Arts Office in association with The Laban Guild this year my focus was on the collaboration of Dance and other art forms. I invited visual artist Fergus Byrne to lead a workshop Dance and Markmaking combining dancing and drawing; Musician and sound artist co-facilitated a workshop with me called Movement & Sound, introducing the idea of sound as an impetus for movement. Dance Artists working in different community settings were selected to reflect the broad range of environments professional dance artists practice in, including Dylan Quinn Dylan Quinn Dance Theatre, Eniskillen, Ríonach NíNéill, Connemara/Galway, Colm Gallagher, London and Lisa Cahill Froebel Dance Artsit in Residence 2014-2015
Throughout the course of the Summer School I maintained a daily blog recording and commenting on other workshops and the overall experience from my perspective. You can read more over here Kildare Dance Summer School DAY #1
